Looks 1986+, but I am not 100% sure due to detail resolution.

These are still everywhere on the west coast, virtually a daily sight in my area.

I think it had ‘89 plates.

Big cars are the first to disappear here, partially because they were never common in the first place and partially because of the high running costs - fuel, insurance, road tax and parts are all cripplingly expensive. To add to that most insurance companies won’t issue a new policy for a car more than about fifteen years old (although they will keep on renewing an existing policy) If you buy a car older than this you’ll probably need classic insurance which comes with restrictions, principally the need to insure another car as your daily driver.

No displacement-based tax here, and these are cars that can soldier on with neglect for a long time. We have emissions tests, but these cars seemed to never have issues with it - I had 300SE that breezed through emissions at nearly 200K miles. Add the gentle climate to that, and that many were sold here when new, and it makes the west coast a fertile ground for 126s. Also no age-related insurance here, many people have 25+ year old cars as daily drivers in this area, I can think of a few off the top of my head in my workplace garage alone.

We have idiotic private import laws, but it seems easier to keep an old car going here anyway.
